Chicken Shed to open at CARGO

Chicken Shed, the latest venture from Eat Drink Bristol Fashion, will open on Friday 21st October as part of CARGO, a new space for independent food and retailers on Bristol’s Harbourside.

The team behind food festival Eat Drink Bristol Fashion, co-founded by Michelin starred Bristol chef Josh Eggleton of The Pony & Trap, Amelia Twine, Nick Roberts and organic farmer Luke Hasell, will launch Chicken Shed in September. The new restaurant and take-away will serve beak to foot of British chickens, using free-range, slow grown and GM free meat from local suppliers.

With a terrace which will be open all day overlooking the beautiful floating harbour, Chicken Shed will take its place alongside other independent food businesses from the city in CARGO including The Bristol Cider Shop, independent wine and spirit retailers Corks of Cotham and The Jolly Hog, founded in Bristol by three brothers.

CARGO will be made up of converted shipping containers and situated on what was for many years derelict land close to the Wapping Wharf development. With a focus on independent businesses, it will be an entirely new zone for the already popular Harbourside.

The Chicken Shed menu will be built around the ever-so-indulgent treat of delicious fried chicken, with an emphasis on only using happy birds that have been raised to the highest possible welfare standards.

Here's what Josh had to say:

“Chicken Shed is about awesome, wholesome chicken and we will be doing the best we possibly can to source happy birds that have been well looked after. We’ll be using every part of the bird in the dishes we serve. Customers can expect delicious roasted chicken, fried chicken legs, soft boiled eggs, curly fries, chicken in a bun and salads.

“Our part of CARGO will have a terrace where people can drink Yurt Lush-inspired signature cocktails or some of the best craft beers. There are some great independent businesses going in with us so it will be a hub of Bristol’s best food and drink teams and we’re proud to be involved.”
